"You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Colin Zone!"

Colin Wiese (pronounced eeeee not iiiiii) the newest addition to the Cardboard Heroes.

A role and responsibility he will not take lightly for with great power comes even greater responsibility?

Born and raised in Calgary save for time spent chasing the elusive dream of rock stardom in such places as Vancouver and Toronto, he has now settled into a cozy life of running his own painting business and raising his 3 kids? or so he thought. The call of playing guitar was rekindled and with much trepidation and perseverance he set out to find a band.

But first a bit more background and trivial tidbits:

Earliest musical experience? The accordion? years and countless recitals gone forever the moment he first heard Van Halen Eruption. Attempting to learn it on the accordion ended in ridicule and laughter and thusly to his parents dismay was begrudgingly given a guitar for Christmas. Things drastically changed!

Graduated high school and was about to enter SAIT in the cooking program when his band at the time scored a nice cross country tour. (Could he have been another Gordon Ramsey?) Tired of the endless touring and playing no mans land Canada, he took what was thought to be the next best move musically?

ended up in Vancouver, working as a bricklayer during the day and taking courses in business whilst still trying to play music at night. Disgruntled and discouraged tail between his legs he came back to Calgary .Didn't stay long though as the lure of the big city Toronto was calling.

Would he make it as a musician finally? (Would he ever learn his lesson?)

Toronto with its way to busy streets and excruciatingly high rents, here he had the most musical success but alas the brass ring was not to be held in this lads hand.

A huge change in life? A new direction with an attempt at joining the O.P.P was a washout; the idea of a normal life in Calgary seemed serene.

Which brings us to the present and as stated he lives a much more controlled life; mild mannered painter, father and husband by day newly appointed 2nd guitar player for the Cardboard Heroes by night.

Could this be the long anticipated dream of musical success? Will the rest of the band actually print this wordy bio? And just what does rhyme with orange?

Don't miss next months issue to find out! Or better still go check out the band at a venue near you!
